Tips for Calming a Crying Baby

  • Holding your baby close, perhaps wrapped lightly in a blanket
  • Movement - carrying / rocking or going for a drive may be helpful
  • Playing soft / soothing music
  • Talking, soothing or whispering to the child
  • Massaging the baby's tummy
  • Some babies find it difficult to digest lactose in their milk, which can lead to prolonged discomfort after feeding. Adding lactase drops (Colief®) helps to break down the lactose in milk before the baby is fed, making the feed more easily digestible
  • Simethicone drops or Gripe Water may help settle stomach contents and help relieve wind
  • Reducing the lactose in the baby's feed using lactase enzyme drops may make the baby's feed more digestible and help reduce the hours of crying

If your baby's crying is apparently inconsolable or if you have any concerns regarding your baby's health or wellbeing, you should seek professional medical advice without delay
